Atmospheric indie-rock artists Lanterns on the Lake have shared details of their upcoming new album “Beings,” on which they began working in February 2014 — right after their U.S. and European tours. Guitarist Paul Gregory has produced and mixed “Beings.”
Vocalist Hazel Wilde says of their writing process:
“The ideas came effortlessly and in abundance. At first we had no expectations, no prescribed ideas of how we wanted the songs to turn out. We were just writing and playing together because that’s what we’d always done.”
Working in their Newcastle rehearsal room seems to have only strengthened their ability to create ghostly soundscapes. Listen to the dramatic new song “Faultlines” — the piano melody works gorgeously with heavenly strings toward the end of the song.
“Beings,” their third full-length album, will be out Nov. 13 on Bella Union.
